Sand cats are the Peter Pan of felines: they retain a kitten-like appearance their whole lives, giving the impression that they never grow up. Although they live in the desert Areas of North Africa, Arabia, Central Asia, and Pakistan, they are considered near threatened due to the illegal pet trade and sport hunting.
These cats are well adapted to their harsh environment. They can survive in temperatures between −5 °C (23 °F) to 52 °C (126 °F) and are able to survive for months on the water in their food. Unfortunately, a recent study indicated that only 61% of sand cats born in captivity live to day 30, primarily due to maternal neglect; they are also prone to various respiratory illnesses which makes them unsuitable as pets. Why would any person want to kill these cute creatures for sport?
Depression sometimes makes even the most basic tasks, like brushing your hair in the morning, seem impossible. When a struggling 16-year-old girl came into an Iowa salon with tangled, matted locks, she told stylist Kayley Olsson to “just cut it all off.” Instead, Olsson worked a record-breaking 2 days and 13 hours to restore both the young lady’s hair and her confidence.
20-year-old Olsson, who works at Capri Waterloo salon, shared before and after photos of the incredible transformation on Facebook after completing the landmark makeover on August 8th, and the entire Internet was shook. The post went viral, with more than 75 thousand shares and almost 200 thousand likes. Most importantly, the young girl’s new ‘do was ready just in time for her back-to-school pictures! (Source)
